VINTAGE FINDS

Yesterday after a long day at work I decided to inter the Goodwill thrift shop on Livingston Avenue in Brooklyn, N.Y. My intention was just to go in and look, and maybe I would find a nice art work to hang in my apartment. Which I did and, while I was on line waiting to purchase this beautiful paisley glass hanging tray my eyes landed on this bin full of junks that almost look like debris because, onesies of the miss match earrings and shoes. This Navy blue corduroy De Vencchi oversize clutch was just staring back at me suggesting that I replace her with the paisley tray. So, I did just that and skipped the entire way home. This De Vencchi clutch is another man's junk and my is now my treasure. It is perfect for the fall and winter season and cannot wait to flaunt it.

10 MUST HAVES IN YOU LINGERIE DRAWER

Feel flustered by all the lacy next-to-nothings in your lingerie section? Here, the 10 pieces every lingerie drawer must have.

1. A nude bra. Wear it under your white and light-hued clothing. It should be seamless and slightly padded.

2. A black bra. Wear it under darks, for day or night. Don't put them under light colors.

3. A strapless bra. This is essential for evening and under anything with thin straps or a halter neck.

4. A T-back bra. Use it with tank tops and pieces that cut in the shoulders and back. Have nude on hand for white tanks and black for black

5. A convertible bra. It's a sensible purchase that can easily switch from regular to strapless to T-back.

6. A bra for a plunging neckline. Wear it under tops and dresses with deep V-necks. It will get a lot of use at night, so black is a good choice.

7. A supersexy bra and panty. Something frivolous and oh so seductive is worth it, even if you wear it only once.

8. Two sports bras. Stock up more if you exercise regularly — and replace often, as they wear out fast.

9. Three pairs of underwear for each bra. Whether you prefer thongs or styles with full coverage, it makes sense to have some of each.

10. Three extra fancy pairs of underwear. Every woman should indulge in a few pieces of risqué, playful, or sultry panties just for fun.

UNIQLO GONE ZILLA

アメリカ合衆国へようこそ
Japanese for Welcome to the United States

Uniqlo, a Janase brand. It has been around since 1984. Uniqlo have stores through out Asia and Europe and now they are ready to take over the U.S. with a bang. They opened their first store in the Soho area of New York City in October of 2006. It was an instant hit with the chic down town crowds.  By the end of this year there will be two more stores open; one of the them will be 91000 sq ft on the swanky street of 5th Avenue and 53rd Street. The other will be on the busy, business booming area of Herald Square 34th Street.

Some of Uniqlo's competitions include: H&M, Forevere 21, Abercrombie and Fitch, and Gap. What does expanding mean to the United States and the competitions? You can imaging the number of jobs that Uniqlo will bring to fashion industry. The opportunity to learn from a foreign brand and they way they view and do business is inevitable. For the competitors it means that they will need to pay closer attention to prices and promotions, Customer service, convenient, and last but not least store design/visual style.

Store design/visual styles play a big part in when competing to draw customers into a store. A store's design/merchandising must speak to the target customer. It must have the right colors, lighting, and style. Store stylists and merchandisers have to always think like the customers and always reinvent themselves with the growth or declining of the economy. Uniqlo has no problem with that. Just ask Mihee Yi, the Award winning Creative Director of Uniqlo-USA, here is a link to a Q&A about merchandising and some other rewards and challenges about her job. http://vmsd.com/content/qa-with-uniqlos-mihee-yi

DVF, FROM DESIGNER TO FILM MAKER?

I love how Diane Von Furstenberg created a 2 minutes video for her new ad campaign for the fall 2011 collection. A script wasn't need at all. The clothes speaks for themselves, with vivid colors and bold patterns. I think that this short film was better than some of the blockbuster movies that are in theaters right now.                                              dvf's fall 2011 video
