An African City

This week have been a great week for discovering wonderful projects benefiting the African culture. Yesterday, was  the "You Khanga" sleepers made with beautiful africa prints and portion of the sells will go towards  projects that will help women and children in Kenya. Today, I found about a webseries  call "An African City" while reading the Madame Noire blog. I decided to check it out and I fell in love and quickly subscribe to the youtube show; and I suggest that everyone to give it a change and watch. Believe me you will love it as well.

When you watch An African City you will have a chance to capture the love, life, career, and family of the modern African women. I love the show because it open you eyes and mind about Africa and the people living in the colorful continent. Jimmy Aponte

As part of my mission to help New York City artists to get the exposure they deserve and, need I decided to roam the street of down town NYC, Soho in particular in search of another artist to post on the blog. One of them really stood out to me.

His name is Jimmy Aponte. His art work made me feel that I've tour every neighborhood and, sights in New York City. Jimmy's art is captured through his lances and, is transitioning onto fabrics. Jimmmy Aponte's photography art capture  the city's life and, soul; from erupting water fire hydrant to the underground subway train and, NYC's most famous sky scrapers. He also make it possible to carry his vision into your pocket by transforming the art onto handkerchiefs.

Soho artists and vendors

Soho is know for its boutique style shops. The lively and colorful personality of the residence. Soho is where you go to find the next trend in fashion; models running around going from buildings to buildings in the hopes of getting there next fashion gig. Soho, South Of Houston is when you can walk the cuable stone streets and find hand made pieces of jewls and eclectic arts from all types of media. I truly believe that that place was meant to be the place of choice for me spend my free time. The time that I need when I need to smile and clears mind. Have you ever heard of art therapy? Well the soho area of New York City give me that. Over the years have watch and become really good friends with some of the artists. I have seen their smiles and happiness when someone want to take pictures of their work. I have seen there struggles when they only make $20.00 for the week. When they don't even have enough money to pay for lunch and storage. The worry of their faces when rent is due. The one thing the really amaze me about them is that through all the troubles the go through in the street they keep on pushing and pushing. Never have up on their beautiful talent. That is why I dedicate this section on my blog to feature some of the artist and vendors. I want to show you what they do and the passion the have for their work. The goal is for them to get recognition and support. I will post their information and pictures of their work to be seen nation wide and world wide. Haitian Art

While I was browsing on oversock.com for a new Iphone case I stumble into some amazing, and beautiful art work made in Haiti by Haitian Artists and I fell in love. I absolutely love that fact that they are hand made with the hands of talented and passionate artists. You can almost see the energy jumping out of the colors and the craftmanship. The fact that most of the pieces are made from recycled steels and drums shows that Haiti is an Island that is ready and will be leading again in the western
hemisphere

Don't Bite

London base artists Fantich and Young have be collaborated since 2008. They have created the tooth-soled shoes that have every body's jar drop. The steletos are a pair of Jimmi Choo with 500 teeth denture, and the Men's oxford are a pair of Barker with 1050 teeth dentures.
